The plan aims not only to ‘continue operations’ but also to ‘protect the safety of all employees and their families’ and sets out policies for various emergency situations, including natural disasters such as major earthquakes, typhoons, floods and fires; shutdown of social and information infrastructure such as power, gas, telecommunications and system failures; human problems such as the H1N1 influenza pandemic; and shutdown of business operations of business partners. The company has formulated policies for various emergency situations, such as the suspension of operations of business partners, etc. In the event of a wide-area disaster, the company also carries out lifesaving activities for the residents of the surrounding area and contributes to the local community.

Business Continuity Plan Promotion Structure
Kawakami Sangyo has established a management system, headed by the President of Kawakami Sangyo, to consider emergency response policies. In addition, the company promotes its business continuity plan by preparing in advance for various emergency situations involving the company and its employees and conducting education and training to ensure calm and appropriate action in the event of such situations. Business continuity plan promotion system: stockpiles and equipment required in the event of a disaster are properly stored and inspected to ensure that they are available when needed. Implementation of education and training: education on business continuity planning is provided to all employees at all sites nationwide. Various drills are regularly conducted to simulate the occurrence of a disaster, including evacuation, disaster drills and safety confirmation.
Measures to minimize impact
  1. (1) Demand power meters will be installed in major facilities to adjust production.
  2. (2) Lighting will be turned off during lunch breaks except in production buildings that operate 24 hours a day.
  3. (3) Use of fans and limited use of air conditioners will be implemented as a countermeasure against summer heat.
  4. (4) Production of products with low power load will be carried out during the power restriction period.
  5. (5) Uniforms were reviewed and changed to clothing that is appropriate for hot and cold weather.
