Development of Biodegradable Puti

In consideration of the underground ecosystem, a portion of Puti-Puti is made of biodegradable raw materials. It decomposes into water and carbon dioxide in the soil. Biodegradable Puti-Puti is made of 100% biodegradable plastic.

Use of plant-derived raw materials (biomass plastic)

We manufacture products using “Green Polyethylene (Braskem),” a raw material derived from sugarcane that absorbs CO2 at the growing stage and can be considered carbon neutral when incinerated as waste.

Bio-Puti

Bio-Puti is a Puti-Puti containing more than 10% biomass plastic, which reduces CO2 emissions.

SupaSupa

‘Supa-Supa’ is a square grain, which can be cut straight by hand. It contains approximately 10% more green polyethylene.

Use of recycled paper

Puti-Puti cores are made from paper tubes with more than 70% recycled paper and are certified as Green Mark products.

Participation in environmental activities of local authorities

As part of our contribution to the local community, our plant has actively concluded disaster prevention agreements with local authorities near the plant to lubricate the supply of shelter support products using Puti-Puti and Plaa-Pearl. As for disaster relief activities, Puti-Puti (50 bottles of d40L) was donated through the NPO Archi-Rescue Hitoyoshi/Kuma for the torrential rain disaster in Kumamoto Prefecture in July 2020. The products were used as insulation for walls and floors of private houses and community centres that had been flooded.

Community recycling initiatives include collecting plastic bottle caps and contact lens containers, and installing Puti-Puti collection boxes at local primary schools.

The Sendai, Atsugi and Hyogo plants also carry out clean-up activities near their plants to contribute to the local community, collecting two to three bags of rubbish each time.

Conversion of company vehicles to HVs, EVs and FCVs

Convert company vehicles to HVs, EVs, FCVs, etc. and make effective use of public transport to ‘reduce CO2 emissions’ related to employee travel and logistics.

Joining CLOMA(Clean Ocean Material Alliance)

We participate in seminars and subcommittees and collect information on our matching platform to strengthen cooperation between companies to solve the problem of marine plastic litter.

Membership of J-CEP (Japan Circular Economy Partnership)

We participate in the New Business Co-Creation Partnership, in which companies and others aiming to realise a sustainable society work together with local residents, governments, universities and others to promote the circular economy.

Eco Action 21 initiatives

Eco-Action 21 certification and registration certificate, community clean-up activities

Reduction of waste (mono-materialisation single material)

As a way of reducing waste, we recommend Puti-Puti ‘coreless Puti’ without paper tubes; any type of Puti-Puti can be used for coreless Puti.
